Alcro Bestå Fönsterfärg Trä is a water-borne paint for wood windows that is easy to apply and does not run. It is specially designed for painting wood windows (on the outside and in-between the casing) and other types of woodwork, such as shutters, doors, barge board, wind protection boards and fences. Alcro Bestå Fönsterfärg Trä creates a weatherproof finish that will keep its colour for a long time.
CLEANING AND PREPARING THE SURFACE. PREVIOUSLY FINISHED SURFACES: If the surface has been painted before, it must be clean and dry before covering with Bestå Fönsterfärg. Wash and clean all dirty areas. Scrape, sand and brush away loose old paint or grey, porous wood. Old layers of paint, which are thick and cracked, have to be completely removed. Sand shiny and hard areas until dull. Round off sharp edges. Remove cracked and loose window putty.
PAINTING. Bare wood areas have to be primed with Bestå Grundolja oil, especially all end grain. Old absorbent areas, such as end grain, joints, putty rebates and other sensitive parts should also be oiled with Bestå Grundolja. Wipe off excess oil on the surface. Previoulsy painted surfaces that have also been primed with oil should be primed with Bestå Grundfärg. Repair cracks and fill in open joints with Målarfog and putty the window panes with Fönsterkitt window putty. Apply two coats of Bestå Fönsterfärg. For the best results, use a brush that is soft and completely synthetic. Paint within a few millimetres of the window pane. For the best results, apply an extra coat on the bottom of the window and a little up onto the sides. NOTE: Stir the paint well before use. The surface has to be dry when you paint and the wood window construction cannot contain too much moisture (maximum moisture ratio of 16%). Do not paint coats that are too thin. Use a generous, flowing amount of paint as recommended. Do not paint on surfaces that have been heated by the sun. Do not paint if there is a risk for rain in the next 24 hours, or if dew will form on the surface within 4-6 hours after you finish painting. Avoid painting areas colder than 7°C and when the humidity is more than 80% RH.
