Product Information

Puts Täckfärg is a completely flat, water-borne styrene-acrylic paint for painting new or previously painted mineral-based exterior materials, fibre-reinforced board and similar materials.

CLEANING AND PREPARING THE SURFACE:- NEW UNFINISHED PLASTER AND CONCRETE: Brush the surface thoroughly to remove dirt, salts and other loose material. For the best result, clean the surface with a high-pressure washer, using hot water but no detergent. If you are painting newly cast concrete, brush the surface with a steel brush to remove any remaining cement skin and mould oil, and then wash with a high-pressure washer but using no detergent. For the best result, you should sand- or water-blast the surface. Let the surface dry thoroughly. Prime the surface with Puts Grundfärg.  Keep in mind that you have to let new plaster age at least 2 months before you paint it in any way. FIBRE-REINFORCED BOARD (NOT ROOFS): Let the board be exposed to outdoor weather for at least six months before painting. Clean in the same way as for new unfinished plaster and concrete. Prime with Puts Grundfärg PREVIOUSLY PAINTED PLASTER AND CONCRETE: Clean the surface in the same way as you clean new unfinished plaster and concrete. If the exterior is extremely dirty or covered with mould/algae growth, clean it with Grovent and then Alg & Mögeltvätt.  Dilute the cleaner as recommended. Before cleaning, wet the exterior thoroughly with clean, cold water. Let the cleaners work on the surface for about 15 minutes. Rinse thoroughly with water afterwards. You can also use a high-pressure washer to rinse the surface. Remember to aim the jet along the exterior (not at a 90-degree angle) to prevent dirt and cleaner from being pressed into the surface.  Any remaining paint has to adhere well to the surface. Let cleaned surfaces dry thoroughly before painting. SMALL CRACKS AND DAMAGED AREAS in plaster and concrete: Repair these. Open up the cracks and fix with a suitable repair mortar. Try to match the structure of the repaired spot with that of the surrounding area. PLASTERED EXTERIORS IN POOR CONDITION or highly loose: You should preferably plaster the surface again before painting. EXPOSED AND REPAIRED AREAS: Prime with Puts Grundfärg.  HIGHLY ERODED AND ABSORBENT SURFACES: You should preferably prime them with Puts Grundfärg.

PAINTING:- Stir the paint thoroughly. Apply the paint with a paintbrush, roller or sprayer. For the best possible uniform finish, you should reserve a sufficient amount of paint for the entire building exterior and avoid painting over joints in the middle of the exterior or on large areas. Apply two coats, waiting 12 hours between coats.  The first coat can be thinned with no more than 10% water. The surface has to be dry when you paint.  The air temperature should be between 5°C and 25°C. Do not paint if there is a risk for rain or dew. Also avoid painting in direct sunlight.
