This design is inspired by elements from Matisse’s paintings and shows a leaf in an informal, abstract arrangement. This single colour design was painted in a technique used by Chinese calligraphy artists with ink and a large brush. The loose and spontaneous marks produced are left unperfected to create a dramatic wallpaper that complements the printed fabric design, Still Life.
