All Farrow & Ball paints are water based

F&B Col CardAll Farrow & Ball paints are water based, eco friendly and comply with the latest EU environmental legislation regarding the VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) content of paints. F&B finishes are all low in odour and classified as either low or minimal VOC. These water based paints can be applied to surfaces previously painted in an oil based finish.

However, surfaces painted in oil based paint require a minimum of two weeks drying time before water based paint is applied on top. Farrow & Ball oil based paint finishes are no longer available

Why has the Farrow & Ball paint range been reformulated?

SPF&BEU legislation sets limits on the amount of VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) content allowed in paint. These limits were further reduced with effect from January 2010.

VOC’s are present in many household products. In paint VOC’s are solvents, such as white spirit, which evaporate while paint is drying. These VOC’s pollute the environment and could potentially have a detrimental effect on health.

The search led them to Paris and a very exciting cooperation with one of the world’s big names in design and fashion trends- Li Edelkoort.

New generation of Alcro water-borne alkyd oil paint

Modern_Oljefarg_Tackfarg_tra_4Modern Oljefärg is a new generation of waterborne alkyd oil paint. The new way to paint exterior woodwork comprises a system of base oil, primer and topcoat. The new waterborne system can be used on unpainted or previously painted exterior wood surfaces, including those previously painted with conventional alkyd oil paints. Alcro jpg 100 pix

The new system provides better gloss retention, chalks less and has a faster drying time. It is more weather resistant and easier to paint with.
