Eco flower labelled paints
The EU Commission instituted the ECO label on 15 December 1995.
Purpose of environmental labelling
The ECO label aims to promote the development, production and marketing of environmentally friendly products. and to provide better information to consumers about the impact of products on the environment.
Criteria for paints using the ECO label
One of the criteria to be allowed to label a paint product is that it has good covering abilities. The content of solvents shall be very limited. The paint must not content toxic or carcinogenic substances. Lead or other heavy metals are prohibited as well as alkyl phenol ethoxylate tensides (APE).
